Christopher “Jamie” Bishop, 35; professor of German and German Literature; from Pine Mountain, Georgia; earned his bachelor’s and master’s degress in German at the University of Georgina and was a Fulbright Scholar.
Jamie was thrilled when he was hired by Virginia Tech two years ago. He loved Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech campus and could not wait to begin teaching.
Jamie was passionate about everything “German” – the language, the literature, the culture, the people. And besides earning two degress in German, he also spent four years living in Germany – learning everything he could about the language and culture.
Jamie was not only a great teacher, but a multi-talented individual who also enjoyed creating art, taking photographs, and writing science fiction. (Jamie’s father, Michael, is an award-winning science fiction author, so some of his brilliance rubbed off on Jamie!)
Christopher Bishop is one of the greatest angels in Heaven.
We miss him.
We honor him.
We love him.
We will never forget him.
