Emily Jane Hilscher, 19, freshman majoring in animal and poulatry sciences; from Woodville, Virginia; graduated from Rappahanock County High School.
Emily is believed to have been the first person killed in the massacre. She was one of two people who were killed around 7:15 a.m. in the West Ambler Johnston co-ed dorm.
Emily loved hoses and greatly enjoyed horseback riding. Here trainer, Moody Aylor, said that she began riding at the age of 9. He also said that she was a very mature young woman. “She was a beautiful, grown-up person,” Aylor said. “She was the most mature person I’ve ever knew at that age. … She was a nice, sweet and wonderful person. Everybody here just loved her .
Aylor also said Hilscher had qualified for the “B” equestrian team at Tech.
John McCarthy, administrator of Rappahannock County, best described Rachel when he said this: “She was a wonderful kid — warm, sensitive, outgoing and happy”
Emily Hilscher is one of the greatest angels in Heaven.
We miss her.
We honor her.
We love her
We will never forget her.
