Emotions Still Strong as Classes Resume

April 24, 2007

by Kevin Caruso

Yesterday was an extremely painful day for students and faculty as they returned to the Virginia Tech campus for the resumption of classes.

Professor Joe Merola exemplified this pain when he tried to give a lecture in his class but could not finish. “I lost it halfway through class,” Merola said. “I burst into tears and had to turn it over to the counselors.”

Professor Merola’s tears were shared with innumerable faculty and students as everyone did their best to get through the difficult day.

Several tributes were held for the victims, including a bell-ringing ceremony.

We ALL stand united with Virginia Tech.

We love you.
